From our hotel in Dieppe
Enjoy easy access to a host of activities!
Matisse wrote that, "Dieppe is set in its light like a jewel." The closest beach to Paris, surrounded by high cliffs, is also France's oldest sea bathing resort. The first officially recorded sea bather in France was Henry III, who visited Dieppe on his physicians' advice starting in June 1578... But the fashion for sea bathing really got started centuries later with Marie-Caroline, Duchess of Berry, who visited Dieppe numerous times between 1824 and 1829. In August 1824, after an arrival greeted by a 21 gun salute, the Duchess discovered a love of sea baths and "launched" the Dieppe beach.
A swim in the magnificent setting of Dieppe and its cliffs is just as delightful now as it was then. The capital of kites has plenty to offer, including all the excitement of your favourite activity... whatever that may be!
