An authentic week-end in Dieppe

Your seaside home base: Hotel Aguado

Cosmopolitan Dieppe, listed as a city of art and history by the French Ministry for Culture, is more than just a resort town, with its cliffs, port, nautical activities, 1500 m stretch of beach, blue pavilion and vast lawns for kite flying. The town seems to rise out of the sea! Its history is embodied by the castle, home to exceptional collections of sculpted ivory and marine paintings, its heroic navigators, its ties to New France (now Canada), and its unique light which inspired the Impressionists... Dieppe is home to a history rich in horizons, emotions and passion.

Things to see and do: Dieppe Castle and Museum, the Estran-Cité de la Mer marine centre, Saint-Jacques and Saint-Rémy churches, the Scène nationale performing arts season, the Manche SPA, the Manoir d’Ango, the Château de Miromesnil where  Guy de Maupassant lived as a child, the Parc des Moutiers, Arques-la-Bataille forest… and of course the magnificent golf-course atop the Dieppe cliffs, horse racing, nautical activities, and hiking along the Côte d’Albâtre and in Normandy.

Historian Jules Michelet once wrote that "he who has not seen Dieppe has not seen Normandy." This port town, with its history of exploration and conquests, beckons you to discover its past glories and present beauty.
